From a hard-hitting cop to a ruthless gang leader, Surya has done all that with ease. He is one of the most promising South Indian actor of recent times. Lest have a look at the various avatars done by Surya in his Carrier till now.
The soft spoken youth, who mad his debut with ‘Nerukku Ner’ in 1997, went on to act in a series of mushy romantic films. Some of them, such as ‘Poovellam Kettuppar’ and ‘Friends’ were huge hits at the Box Office.
It was Bala’s ‘Nanda’ (2001) that won Surya ‘quality actor’ tag. His intense performance in the film fetched him the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Actor. Later, he played a memorable role in Bala’s ‘Pithamagan’.

Surya’s K.S Ravikumar directed Aadhavan which was released on Diwali has created new box office records. The movie produced by Udayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Pictures has crossed Rs 80 lakhs in Sathyam Cinemas alone in just 16 days!
This is a new record for at the multiplex, grossing Rs 80 lakhs in just 16 days. The movie was screened simaltaneously in two big screens Sathyam and Santham for two weeks, with additional shows during the week end. As per sources the movie will collect more than Rs 1 crore at Sathyam Cinemas itself making it has a new Box office record for Tamil movies and also for Surya movies.

Surya’s Aadhavan movie audio is to be released on August 19th at Sathyam cinemas by a host of Kollywood personalities. The producers of the movie, Udayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies has confirmed the date of launching Aadhavan audio.
Aadhavan audio rights has been aquired by Think Music for an whopping price and the music for the film has been score by Harris Jayaraj. Harris Jayraj and Surya duo has already given number of super hit songs in their movies, like Kaakha Kaakha, Ghajini, Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan.

Actor Surya won the Best Actor award at the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards 2008 for South which was given away at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Friday night (July 31st) at a glittering function. Surya won the award for his performance in the much acclaimed movie Vaaranam Aayiram. Recently the actor also wont the Best Actor award at Univercell Vijay Awards 2008.
