Surya’s K.S Ravikumar directed Aadhavan which was released on Diwali has created new box office records. The movie produced by Udayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Pictures has crossed Rs 80 lakhs in Sathyam Cinemas alone in just 16 days!
This is a new record for at the multiplex, grossing Rs 80 lakhs in just 16 days. The movie was screened simaltaneously in two big screens Sathyam and Santham for two weeks, with additional shows during the week end. As per sources the movie will collect more than Rs 1 crore at Sathyam Cinemas itself making it has a new Box office record for Tamil movies and also for Surya movies.

Surya’s Aadhavan which released in October 17th has taken a bumber opening at the Box office. Aadhavan received mixed reviews from film critics but the Surya factor and K.S Ravikumar commercial formula has helped the movie the movie to reach the masses and it had helped for a superb Box office opening across southern india.
Aadhavan was released at nearly 500 Screens across southern india covering Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra and Karnataka. As per sources chennai city as reported 100% collections over the opening week end while madurai, coimbatore and Trichy reported over 90% collections.
In Bangalore Aadhavan was release in 20 screens and it is reported that the movie has outplayed Akshay Kumar’s Blue and has collected more revenues then Blue on the first day. Reports suggest that collections from overseas are also very good.

Aadhavan is surely an commercial entertainer with trade mark K.S Ravikumar formula and surely you will have a good time while watching the movie with your family this Diwali although the movie certain flaws and lacks logic.
Surya(Aadhavan) is a professional trained assassin shooter and always completes his assignments without missing the target. Aadhavan has given a big job to take down a judge, but the bullet from the trained shooter’s Snipper misses the judge and he escapes. Surya’a Aadhavan advance booking started in the Chennai city from today. The movie will hit the screens on Diwali day October 17th with more than 600 prints world wide. In Chennai city alone the film will be opening in 15 screens.
The advance booking of the movie has taken a bumper opening in the chennai city and it is said to be the best ever opening for any tamil film for this year. A spokesman of Sathyam Cinemas , where it is going to have daily 10 shows for the Diwali weekend says: “ By 4 pm we have sold 15, 245 tickets in advance for the first week, which may touch 20,000 by night. The online bookings is phenomenal and we are sold out for the first three days, which is very good. It is the best opening for any film this year.”
The newly renovated Devi Cineplex is opening with Aadhavan in two of its four screens. Says the owner Varadaraja Chettiar: “The opening attraction at Devi which has been totally refurbished is Aadhavan. Surya’s Aadhavan will hit the screens on Diwali day October 17th with more than 600 prints world wide. In Chennai city alone the film will be opening in 15 screens, while advance booking for the film will start from October 14.
Aadhavan features Surya and Nayanthara in lead roles. The Movie has been directed by K.S Ravikumar and produced by Udayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies. After a gap of 12 years legendary actress Saroja Devi is acting in an important role in the movie. Vadivelu and Ramesh Khanna are joining Surya in the comedy track. The trio is getting back together in this film after Friends.
The movie is subsequentely dubbed and released in Telugu as ghatikudu. Surya will be seen for the first time in a character of negative shades, which will be the highlight of the film. Surya, in a portion of the movie Aadhavan, appears as a 10-year old.
Surya, who is a contract killer, enters Saroja Devi’s family to kill the family but is taken by Nayanthara and her family’s affection and the incidents that take place thereafter forms the story of this film.
